Staff-to-Child Ratios

 

In Center-Based Care the staff-to-child ratios are

1:4 for infants (defined as a child under 2 years of age); 1:6 for 18 to 30 months; Contracted centers: 1:3 for infants to 18 months; 1:4  for 18 months to 36 months

In Family Child Care the staff-to-child ratios are

1:4 (if only infants are cared for) OR 1:6 (with no more than 3 infants) OR 1:8* (with 2 school-aged children and no more than 2 infants)

*The licensee must notify the parent that there are 2 school-aged children present and that there could be 7 or 8 children in the home at one time. The licensee must also obtain written consent of the property owner if a rented or leased property
